Baccarat 3-boards — the rules

A house poker variant played on three community boards. These are the rules Bakarat implements, in both Counter and Online modes.

Overview

  • Deck: one standard 52-card deck.
  • Players: 2 to 8 active players per round (up to 10 connected online; extra players watch).
  • Modes: Counter (real cards, the app only keeps the accounts) and Online (the app deals virtual cards to each phone).

Dealing

Active playersCards per player
2 – 56
66 for four players, 5 for two (round-robin)
7 – 84

The dealer is served last, going around the table starting after them. The dealer rotates every round.

The three boards

  1. Burn one card, then the flop: three cards on Board 1, three on Board 2, three on Board 3.
  2. Burn one card, then the turn: one card on each board.
  3. Burn one card, then the river: one card on each board.

Each board ends with five cards. The boards are independent: every player plays all three in turn, with the same hand.

Announcements

On each board, every player still in the round announces the hand category they believe they can make with two of their cards plus the five on the board.

#CategoryPayout multiplier
0High card×1
1Pair×1
2Two pair×1
3Three of a kind×1
4Straight×1
5Flush×1
6Full house×1
7Four of a kind×8
8Straight flush×16
9Royal flush×20

Note that a full house pays ×1, unlike classic poker: only four of a kind and above trigger a multiplier.

  • Skip: a player may decline to announce on a board. They neither win nor lose on it (except for the full-board bonus).
  • Bluff: announcing a category you cannot actually make eliminates you from that board, and you still pay the base stake times the winner's multiplier.
  • Card selection: high card is picked automatically. Every other category requires selecting one or two cards by hand; one card is enough when it completes the announced hand with the board.

Reveal and winner

  1. The highest category wins (royal flush beats straight flush, which beats four of a kind, and so on down to high card).
  2. On equal categories, ranks are compared kicker by kicker (four aces beat four kings).
  3. If everything is equal, the board goes to a tie-break.

The multiplier applied is the one of the category announced by the winner.

Scoring

Normal board (one winner)

With stake the line price (for example €0.50), multi the winner's multiplier and N the number of active players:

  • The winner receives stake × multi × (N − 1).
  • Every other player (loser, skip, bluff or forfeit) pays stake × multi.

Tie-break

When two or more players announce the same category with the same strength, the board is settled at the end of the round:

  • A fresh five-card board is drawn from the tie-break pool (the three burned cards plus any undealt cards, shuffled).
  • The tied players announce again, using their full hand. Repeat with a new board until someone wins.
  • A player caught bluffing during a tie-break is out of all further iterations.
  • The final winner collects stake × tie-break multiplier from each other tied player, and stake × 1 from each player who was not in the tie.

Abandoned board

If nobody can make a valid announcement after several rebid rounds, the board is abandoned: nobody wins, nobody pays.

Full board (round bonus)

If the same player wins all three boards of a round, they receive a bonus of stake × (N − 1) and every other player pays stake × 1. A board won through a tie-break counts.

Online mode

  • Phases: dealing → flop → announcing (Board 1) → reveal (Board 1) → same for Boards 2 and 3 → tie-breaks if any → end of round, scores updated, dealer rotates.
  • Flash mode: four of each player's cards stay face down (the player can peek privately); the last one or two cards dealt are public for everyone.
  • Timer: optional, set by the host (20 to 90 seconds per announcement phase). An unanswered announcement counts as a skip.
  • Disconnections: a player who drops forfeits the current and following boards of the round and still owes their payments. Rejoining under the same name restores their seat. If the host drops, another player takes over.

Worked example (Counter mode)

Four players, €0.50 per line:

  • Board 1: Alice wins with a pair (×1) → Alice +€1.50, the others −€0.50 each.
  • Board 2: Bob wins with four of a kind (×8) → Bob +€12, the others −€4 each.
  • Board 3: Charlie wins with a straight (×1) → Charlie +€1.50, the others −€0.50 each.
  • No full board (three different winners). Net: Alice +€0.50, Bob +€7, Charlie −€3, Dana −€4.50. The total is zero.

  2. À catégorie égale, on compare les rangs, kicker à kicker (un carré d'as bat un carré de rois).

Exemple (mode Compteur)

Quatre joueurs, 0,50 € la ligne :

  • Board 1 : Alice gagne avec une paire (×1) → Alice +1,50 €, les autres −0,50 € chacun.
  • Board 2 : Bob gagne avec un carré (×8) → Bob +12 €, les autres −4 € chacun.
  • Board 3 : Charlie gagne avec une suite (×1) → Charlie +1,50 €, les autres −0,50 € chacun.
  • Pas de full board (trois gagnants différents). Net : Alice +0,50, Bob +7, Charlie −3, Dana −4,50. Le total fait zéro.

Force des mains : Quinte flush royale › Quinte flush › Carré › Full › Couleur › Suite › Brelan › Double paire › Paire › Hauteur.
